After the practice race came the most anticipated part of todays programm- the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony took part on the pier with a wonderful view of the water and surrounding mountains. The sailors enjoyed an afternoon flooded by colourful national flags and traditional tones of slovak folk music presented by the folk dance group Drevár. After the dance performance and introduction of the race officials came the introduction of the national teams. 108 sailors from 10 countries stood on the stage and proudly took photos with their national flags. After the introduction, the official flag of the vaurien world championship was raised by the oldest slovak vaurien sailor and the championship was declared officialy open.
After the ceremony everyone enjoyed a dinner bufet, music and the cozy atmosphere of Marina Liptov – the venue of this years championship.
